Burn better. Enjoy longer.
Proper candle care helps create a cleaner, more even burn while protecting your space. Follow these simple steps each time you light a candle from The Candle Plug.
Before You Light
Trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch before every burn. A shorter wick helps reduce excess smoke, soot, and an oversized flame.
Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep it away from drafts, vents, fans, open windows, and anything flammable.
Before lighting, make sure the wax is free from wick trimmings, matches, and other debris.
While Your Candle Burns
Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface, especially during the first burn. This helps prevent tunneling and supports a more consistent burn.
For best results, burn your candle for no more than four hours at a time.
Always keep a burning candle within sight. Keep it away from children and pets, and never move the jar while the wax is hot or melted.
If the flame becomes too high, flickers repeatedly, or produces excess smoke, extinguish the candle. Allow it to cool, trim the wick, and relight it later.
When It Is Time to Extinguish
Use a candle snuffer when possible. You may also gently blow out the flame while avoiding splashing the melted wax.
Allow the candle to cool completely before touching, moving, covering, or relighting it.
Do not use water to extinguish a candle.
Know When to Stop Burning
Discontinue use when approximately ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. Burning a candle beyond this point may cause the vessel to overheat.
Never leave a candle burning overnight or while you are away from the room.
Reusing the Jar
Once the candle is fully finished and cooled, remove the remaining wax and clean the glass vessel. The jar may then be reused for small items, décor, or storage.
Do not reuse the jar for food or beverages.
